EVENT BOOKING WITHIN THE GIMLI HARBOUR AREAS
The Gimli Harbour Authority has assumed the responsibility for all event bookings within the
Gimli Harbour. This includes the area often referred to as “Bill’s Hill”. Over the years, the Gimli
Harbour has become a popular area for weddings, wedding photographs and other similar events. There are no
fees for the use of the harbour areas, however there are a few conditions that must be met prior to booking an
event:
1- An occasional use permit must be
filled out and sent to the Gimli Harbour Authority
2- A $200.00 refundable deposit is
required for larger events such as weddings. This deposit will be returned if the area used for the event
is left in a clean and tidy fashion.
Prior to booking your event, please contact the Gimli Harbour Authority to determine which
days are available. Your deposit should be sent along with the completed occasional use
permit.

SAFELY NAVIGATING AROUND COMMERCIAL FISHING NETS
In recent years, the Gimli Harbour and Lake Winnipeg have become increasingly popular
recreation areas. However, Lake Winnipeg and the areas around the Gimli Harbour support an active
commercial fishing industry. The commercial fishing seasons normally run mid-May to mid-July and resume again in
the fall around mid-September to mid-November. In the interest of safety and awareness, the local
Gimli commercial fishermen have produced an information sheet in cooperation with the Gimli Harbour
Authority. The aim of this information placard is to educate recreational boaters on how commercial
fishing nets are placed, and how to safely navigate around them.
