RE: 2012 BOATING SEASON
Dear Harbour User,
The 2012 season is just around the corner. In an effort to streamline our operations
for 2012, and provide our seasonal harbour users with as much information as possible regarding our operations, the
Gimli Harbour Authority is sending out our seasonal registration information this fall. In addition, the GHA has
been able to determine our seasonal rates for 2012 much earlier than normal. The enclosed Registration form enables
you to determine what your vessel slip fee is for 2012, when it needs to be paid by, and updates to our Harbour
Rules and Regulations.
All seasonal slip holders for 2012 will be required to provide the GHA with a $200.00
deposit to hold your slip, and this is to be paid no later than September 15, 2011. The remainder of the slip fee
is to be paid in full no later than May 1, 2012. There will not be any exceptions made and not complying will
result in loss of the seasonal slip. The deposit can only be refunded before December 31, 2011 and
there will be no full slip refunds considered after May 1, 2012. This change has become necessary due
to the shortage of seasonal slips in the Gimli Harbour, the long waiting list for a seasonal slip, and the need to
maximize the efforts of harbour staff at spring start up.
In addition to the registration form, enclosed is a copy of the updated Gimli Harbour
Rules and Regulations. Items #3 and #15 have been updated and is worthy of your notice. This year the registration
form is not considered complete without entering your License number, registration or name of vessel. Our records
will be kept in a numerical order using the license number so please keep this in mind when filling out the
registration form. Vessels with less than 10 hp are recommended to have a MB license number as it is able to
provide information to the Canadian Coast Guard or the RCMP should a marine emergency arise with your vessel. This
number is provided at no cost to you.
There will be 15 Jet Ski ports available for the 2012 boating season and they will be
located on the south side of the Pan Am pier; as well there will be communal Jet Ski/ dinghy slips provided in
several areas of the Harbour. These communal slips will be the sole location of all Jet Ski’s and/or
dinghies in the Gimli Harbour. See the registration form for rates. Dinghies belonging specifically to vessels will
remain with the vessel; either on board or alongside so as to not interfere with another vessels’ berthing.
f there are any questions or concerns, please contact the Gimli Harbour Office at the
numbers listed below.
